About The Author

Linnaea Burger was born and raised in East London in a lively home of four daughters and two teacher parents, where sport and books shaped her early world.

Her love of movement led her to study Human Movement Science and English at Stellenbosch University, where she earned her tennis colours and played Western Province hockey – eventually being selected for an international Protea hockey tour. Yet storytelling tugged at her from the beginning: her first handwritten book made the rounds among her teachers, and a school play she wrote was performed at prize giving.

Life carried her across South Africa as she supported her husband Jasper’s medical career, raised four sons, survived deep personal loss, and found joy in small-town communities where tennis courts, long roads, and wide landscapes became part of the family story.

After Jasper’s passing, she returned to teaching and later became secretary of the Bellville Presbyterian Church, where she worked for over a decade. Her home life grew again when she married Ernst, a wool expert and avid reader who encouraged her poetry, painting, and creative pursuits.

Today, she writes with the richness of a life lived across provinces, careers, triumphs, and heartbreaks. Her sons, each successful in his own right, remain her pride and joy. Besides them, her beloved dog Bonnie, “the tip of her heart,” keeps her company while she paints, writes, and remembers the winding, beautiful journey that shaped her voice as an author.
